My Year in Voice Over!

January 9, 2026 by GenevieveBaer

This Year in Voice-Acting

It was another really great year doing a job that I absolutely love. Even after 20 years, it still blows my mind that I get to make a living doing voice over. My passion and love for it has only grown with time and each year I unlock new things to learn and new genres to tackle.

Adding Animation to my Toolbox

One of my goals for this year was to create an animation demo. I had been seeing more and more animation auditions land in my inbox and was having an absolute blast tackling that material.

Not only did I create my first animation demo (with the fantastic Kristin Paiva) but I booked my first TWO animation jobs!

Connecting to Voice Over Industry Professionals

Another goal I had set for myself in 2025 was to make an effort to meet and train with more industry pros. I took a multitude of fantastic workshops with casting directors, voice directors, agents, and other industry giants. Not only did I learn a ton of valuable information but I also just got myself “on the radar” with so many voice over folks that make the decisions.

I learned that introducing myself and demonstrating to casting professionals that–not only does my voice over demo sound great–but I can actually take direction and deliver in a live session, makes a huge difference. After all, casting directors are putting their careers on the line when they recommend voice actors for gigs. It’s so important that they feel confidant that the voice talent can take direction, will be easy to work with, and can deliver the goods in the session.

Reel of my Voice Over work in 2025

I sent out an end-of-year newsletter to many of my voice over contacts this year. I wanted to include a reel of some of my work from this past year so I created one and capped it at 3 minutes max.

It was a really useful exercise for me because I tend to brush off my so-called “wins” and focus more on the jobs I didn’t get (a terrible habit).

But going through my work form 2025 forced me to acknowledge that a) I had a lot of work to choose from, and b) this work was extremely varied and covered pretty much every possible genre of voice-acting.

I allowed myself to feel proud of that fact–at least for a few moments 😉

Below is the video of just a small handful of the voice over gigs I had the pleasure of voicing this year.

Voice-acting Goals for 2026

I can only hope that I have an equally large and varied amount of work to look back on this next year.

In 2026 I want to continue my mission of networking and introducing myself and my work to more folks in the industry. I would also like to do a better job of maintaining confidence and self-belief in the face of WHATEVER happens in my career this year. There are so many factors at play, but my value as a voice talent should never be in question.

I will focus on the things I can control: continued training, top-level service, a great attitude, self-marking, etc. and try and leave the rest to fate.

Happy New Year everyone. May it be happy, healthy, and rewarding for you all!

Genevieve Baer is “Baby Chloe” in Scribble Scrubbies!

November 14, 2025 by GenevieveBaer

Booking a Role in Crayola’s Scribble Scrubbies

This summer I found myself in a really funny and bizarre trend of booking the voice of various dogs. In the span of a month, I booked–not just one–but THREE different voice over gigs where I was hired to provide the voice for a dog!

Two of those projects were commercial campaigns but the third one was for the adorable Youtube series: Scribble Scrubbies.

Scribble Scrubbies Pets by Crayola

Full disclosure: I had never heard of Scribble Scrubbies before I received an audition. My children are older and so I have been unaware of many of the popular kids’ series out there. Of course, I went straight to Youtube to do my research before auditioning.

I learned that Scribble Scrubbies is a wildly entertaining and adorable series that ties into a super cute toy made by Crayola.

In each episode, the characters go on adventures and there will be a cut to real children playing with the toys throughout the episode.

Brand New Scribble Scrubbies Characters!

Baby Chloe is a new character (and a NEW TOY) and this was to be her very first episode (titled “Babysitting: But the Floor is Lava!“).

In the episode, Baby Chloe and 2 of her friends play hide-and-seek and dream up all sorts of imaginary scenarios to make the game even more fun.

Recording the episode was a total blast AND there is a chance that these characters could make a reappearance in future episodes! 🤞

More Scribble Scrubbies to Come!

In animation voice over, there is usually quite a bit of a wait from when you record the animation voice over to when the episode is actually released (because they still need to animate it!).

I am thrilled to announce that I will be voicing yet another character in Scribble Scrubbies in a soon-to-be-released episode. Stay tuned for “Mirabelle” the Cow! 🐄

Meet Baby Chloe

Below is a shortened version of Baby Chloe’s Scribble Scrubbies episode. You can view the entire episode (and so many more) on the Scribble Scrubbies Pets Youtube Channel.

Adding Animation Voice Over to my Tool Belt!

September 15, 2025 by GenevieveBaer

Voice Acting for Animation

I had lunch with a dear friend and fellow voice actor last Spring and she asked me what my goals were for the coming year.

The very first thing that popped into my head was “create an Animation Voice Over demo“.

When I first began my career as a voice actor, Animation was not really a field that was accessible to voice actors who did not live in either New York or LA. Slowly that began to change. In the last few years, I began to see more and more auditions for Animated series, movies, and shorts.

Taking the First Step

The first thing I needed to do was make sure that my skills were up to par and my auditions were competitive.

I decided to call on one of the best in the business when it comes to Animation: Kristin Paiva.

Kristin is a highly respected Casting Director, Voice Director, and VO Coach with over 2 decades of experience in the animation world. She is also a wonderful human being.

Our coaching session went even better than I had expected and, by the end of the hour, we had plans to create an Animation demo together!

Animation Demo Creation

I have recorded a lot of demos in my 20+ years as a voice actor. However, the process of creating an animation demo was by far the most difficult and the most fun!

Kristin brings on a team that includes custom script writing and expert production. The scripts were written with my specific skills and sensibility in mind and serve as more of an outline for our session–which was filled with improv, experimentation, and play!

In the end, we spent about 5 hours recording a plethora of options. I have never been more exhausted, more sweaty, or more exhilarated after a demo creation session.

The Completed Animation Voice Over Demo

I could not be more happy with the final product. My animation demo is extremely varied, entertaining, and representative of who I am as a voice actor.

I am proud to use it as a “calling card” to market to various creators and production houses, and agents.

Voice Over Representation for Animation

With my shiny new demo in hand, I was able to target an agent with a long history and great connections in the animation world.

I am thrilled to announce that I have been added to Micaela Hicks’ roster at Eris Talent Agency! Micaela is fantastic and I have already had the opportunity to audition for some really exciting projects.

Stay Tuned…

Even before my Animation Demo was complete, the universe sent me a sign that I was on the right path.

I booked not one–but two different roles in an animated series that will be released in the very near future. Stay tuned for a future post introducing those fun characters.

I am thrilled for this new chapter in my Voice Over career. I love the endless opportunities for expansion and growth in the Voice Over world and can’t wait to find out what’s next.

Take a Listen!

Without further ado, here is my new Animation Demo. I am so grateful to Kristin Paiva and her team for working so hard on this and I hope you love it as much as I do!

Radio Imaging Voice Talent Genevieve Baer

March 27, 2024 by GenevieveBaer

To 40 Radio Imaging Voice Talent

This year, I was thrilled to be chosen as the female imaging voice for 94KX – a Pop station based out of Sunbury-Selinsgrove-Lewisburg, PA.  I try to share my work regularly on Linkedin and as I was posting this morning (which you can read here) it occured to me that I should share on this fancy shmancy blog as well.

A NEW GENRE

I stumbled into radio imaging about 4 years ago almost by accident. A client of mine asked if I was interested in getting into it. As someone who is always interested in exploring other genres of voiceover, of course I said YES! Suffice it to say, I fell in LOVE 🥰. I can’t believe it took me this long into my career to discover this genre as my particular skill-set is so perfectly suited for it!

LEARNING AND MARKETING

I never do things half-way!  I threw myself into learning as much as possible, creating fantastic demos (thank you Jay Helmus of Zippy Zappy Productions) and marketing those demos like crazy.  Along the way, I was lucky enough to be signed to the Radio Imaging and TV Affiliate department at CESD and then brought on to the fabulous roster at Benztown. Things really started to take off from there and I feel like I am truly where I am supposed to be.  I now have a handful of stations that I voice for and am quickly gaining interest and traction. 🎉

WHEN WORK FEELS LIKE PLAY

Why is this all so exciting for me? Look, I can’t say enough about how much I love being a voice actor. Every single voiceover job is a gift to me (ooh that kind of ties in to my branding doesn’t it? 🎁 ) but I am just having the time of my life with radio imaging and I’m a greedy little bugger–I want MORE!  I spent many years training in Musical Theatre (thank you Syracuse University) and then performing on stages around the country. Radio Imaging allows me to access many of the skills I honed during those years:  improvisation, character work, and even my sense of rhythm and tone. All of these skills allow me to offer a bit extra to stations looking to switch things up.

I get excited each time a radio imaging page to record lands in my inbox…and I don’t see that excitement dissipating any time soon. Below is a compilation of some of my work for WQKX for March–check it out!
